Is Ireland a good place for Indian students to study?

For many Indian students, yes. Ireland offers English-taught one-year master’s, European hubs of global tech and pharma firms, and up to 24 months of Stamp 1G stay-back with no job offer. Master’s list fees start at €11,500 on our list. The trade-offs are high rents, a tight Dublin housing market and competitive jobs.

The NFQ levels and what they give you

Ireland has 7 universities (Trinity, UCD, UCC, University of Galway, UL, DCU and Maynooth), 5 technological universities (TU Dublin, MTU, ATU, SETU and TUS), RCSI and private colleges. Stay-back depends on the NFQ level of your award, not the type of institution.

Honest answer

Why Ireland, and what to weigh

Why Ireland works

  • English-speaking and in the EU, with one-year master’s degrees.
  • European hubs of Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Apple, Pfizer and Accenture.
  • Stamp 1G stay-back of up to 24 months, with no job offer needed.
  • A route to Stamp 4 after 21 months on a Critical Skills permit.

What to weigh

  • High rents and a tight Dublin housing market.
  • Competitive entry-level jobs in some sectors, and permit salary floors to meet.
  • Summer 2025 saw a rise in reported racially motivated attacks on Indians; the Indian Embassy issued an advisory, and Ireland’s President and Tánaiste condemned the attacks.
  • Grey, wet weather for much of the year.

Still have questions?

Our counsellors are just a call away — get clear, honest answers.

It can be, if your course fits a sector that hires in Ireland. A one-year master’s keeps total cost down, and Stamp 1G gives up to 24 months to find work with no job offer. Weigh that against high rents and permit salary floors of €36,848 or more for a recent graduate.
