GRE made simple
Graduate Record Examinations
The standard admissions test for Master’s and PhD programs worldwide.
What is the GRE?
Students applying to Master’s (MS, MA) and PhD programs — especially in the USA, Canada and Europe — and many business schools that accept GRE in place of GMAT.
MS in engineering, computer science, data science and sciences; many MBA, MA and PhD programs.
The GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) is a standardised test used for admission to graduate programs — Master’s and PhD degrees — at universities around the world. It is run by ETS and, since its 2023 redesign, is a shorter test of just under two hours.
For Indian students, the GRE General Test is most relevant for MS programs in the USA and Canada, and for an increasing number of Master’s courses in Germany, the Netherlands and beyond. Many business schools now also accept the GRE as an alternative to the GMAT.
The test reports a Verbal score and a Quantitative score, each on a 130–170 scale (260–340 combined), plus an Analytical Writing score from 0–6. Competitive STEM programs typically look for a strong Quant score, and results stay valid for five years — long enough to apply across multiple intakes.
What the GRE looks like

Quantitative Reasoning

- Low interest, fast approvals
Fund the whole journey
A GRE attempt plus preparation is the first investment in a postgraduate degree that often runs into tens of lakhs. Planning your education loan early means the test, coaching and applications are funded as part of one structured plan rather than out of pocket.
Our financing partners fund the full Master’s/PhD journey abroad — tuition, living costs and pre-departure expenses such as GRE fees, score-reporting, coaching and the visa — through low-interest education loans with fast approvals. Both secured and unsecured loan options are available depending on the country, amount and co-applicant.
A strong GRE score (particularly a high Quant) opens the door to funded assistantships, fellowships and scholarships at US and European universities — exactly the kind of aid that reduces your net borrowing. We help you target programs where your score makes funding realistic.
Loan eligibility, interest rates and amounts depend on your destination, course, co-applicant and lender. Figures on this page are indicative.
