Job-market reality check
Harder, so be realistic
- Be honest with yourself: an Irish LLM does not by itself qualify you to practise law in Ireland (that needs a separate professional qualification), and legal roles for international graduates are few.
- Most LLM graduates who stay find work in compliance, regulatory, funds or risk roles, which are rarely on the Critical Skills list and usually need a General Employment Permit.
- A General Employment Permit needs a salary of at least €36,605 a year. An LLM makes most sense if you plan to return to practise in India or already work in a regulated industry.

The Irish Residence Permit is the card that proves your permission to stay: Stamp 2 while you study. You register within 90 days of arriving and pay €300, then renew it, and pay again, every year. You need a valid IRP to apply for Stamp 1G after graduating.
