Honest answer

Job-market reality check

Mixed: depends on the role

  • Dublin’s IFSC hires in funds, banking, insurance and fintech, and accounting firms recruit graduates every year, but most roles also want professional exams (ACCA, CPA, CFA) or the drive to start them.
  • Many finance roles are not on the Critical Skills Occupations List, so they need a General Employment Permit (at least €36,605) unless the job qualifies for a Critical Skills permit.
  • Quantitative, data-heavy and fintech roles are the easier way in for international graduates; generalist finance roles face strong competition from EU graduates.
