Is this converter official?

It uses Pearson’s published July 2025 concordance. The conversion itself is a statistical comparison, not an official equivalence.

Can I use it for a visa?

No. Visa authorities publish their own PTE minimums, so use the official visa page.

Does it work for individual skills?

This table is for the overall score. Pearson’s 2025 study also gives separate values for each skill.

What PTE score equals IELTS 6.5?

Under Pearson’s July 2025 concordance, 55 is the minimum PTE Academic score for IELTS 6.5. Some universities still use the older table, which put it at 58.

What PTE score equals IELTS 7.0?

Under the July 2025 concordance, 63. A university that still uses the 2020 table may ask for 65.

Can I convert TOEFL or Duolingo scores?

Not with this tool yet. ETS publishes its own table for the old and new TOEFL scales, and Duolingo publishes one against IELTS. We will add them once checked.

Can I convert GRE or GMAT scores?

No. GRE and GMAT are admissions tests, not English tests, so they do not convert to IELTS or PTE. ETS publishes a separate tool for business schools comparing GRE and GMAT scores.

1How it works

The converter looks your score up in Pearson’s published table. It does not estimate or predict a score. TOEFL and Duolingo English Test conversions will be added once checked against ETS and Duolingo.

2Worked example

You scored PTE 66. That is above the 63 threshold for IELTS 7.0 and below the 71 threshold for 7.5, so it meets a course that asks for IELTS 7.0, if that course accepts the concordance.

3Caveats

Some institutions still publish requirements based on Pearson’s 2020 table, which put IELTS 6.5 at PTE 58. Visa authorities publish their own PTE minimums. Always check the course and visa pages.
