IELTS made simple
International English Language Testing System
The world’s most widely accepted English test for study, work and migration.
What is the IELTS?
Indian students applying to English-taught undergraduate or postgraduate programs abroad, and anyone needing proof of English for a student visa.
Almost every English-taught degree — Bachelor’s, Master’s, MBA, MBBS and PhD — across the UK, Australia, Canada and Europe.
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System — a test of how well you read, write, listen to and speak English in an academic setting. It is jointly run by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge, and is accepted by more than 11,000 organisations worldwide, including almost every university in the UK, Australia, Canada and Europe.
For Indian students, IELTS is usually the default English-proficiency requirement on a study-abroad application. Most undergraduate courses ask for an overall band of 6.0–6.5, while competitive Master’s and MBA programs often expect 6.5–7.5 with no individual band below a set minimum.
You can take IELTS on paper or on a computer, and the Academic version is the one universities ask for (General Training is for migration and work). Results arrive in 3–5 days for the computer-delivered test, and the score stays valid for two years.

From IELTS to degree, funded
One education loan can cover exam prep, tuition, living costs and travel — so money never decides where you study.
- Covers exam fees, coaching & visa
- Tuition + living expenses abroad
- Collateral & non-collateral options
- Low interest, fast approvals
Fund the whole journey
An IELTS attempt and a few weeks of coaching are a small but real upfront cost — and they are the very first cheque on the road to a degree abroad. An education loan can be planned to cover this prep phase alongside the bigger costs that follow.
Through our financing partners, students can fund the full study-abroad journey — tuition, living expenses and pre-departure costs such as test fees, coaching and visa charges — with low-interest education loans and fast approvals. Both collateral and non-collateral options are available depending on your destination, course and co-applicant profile.
A strong IELTS band also strengthens your loan and visa file: it signals you are admission-ready, which helps lenders move faster and helps you target scholarship-eligible universities that lower the amount you need to borrow in the first place.
Loan eligibility, interest rates and amounts depend on your destination, course, co-applicant and lender. Figures on this page are indicative.
