Honest answer

Job-market reality check

Harder, so be realistic

  • Be realistic: hospitality, tourism and events roles are rarely on the Critical Skills Occupations List, and many graduate jobs in the sector pay less than the permit thresholds.
  • A General Employment Permit needs at least €36,605 a year, so check any job offer against it before you count on staying after Stamp 1G.
  • Choose this field if you plan a management career in India or the Gulf, or already have industry experience. Part-time hospitality work during your studies is easy to find; a sponsored role afterwards is not.

Still have questions?

Our counsellors are just a call away — get clear, honest answers.

There are many part-time jobs in Dublin’s shops, cafés, hotels and delivery firms, but competition is real, and hiring straight after Christmas is slower than in September. Expect to spend your first weeks looking. Get your PPS number early, and never count on part-time pay to cover tuition.
