Job-market reality check

Strong demand, with real competition

  • Ireland hosts European manufacturing sites for global pharma, biotech and medical-device companies, around Cork, Galway and Dublin, and many technical roles appear on the Critical Skills Occupations List.
  • Conversion master’s help science and engineering graduates switch in, but employers value lab, GMP or quality experience, and graduates from unrelated backgrounds usually find the first role harder.
  • A Critical Skills permit for a recent graduate needs a salary of at least €36,848 a year.
