Updated on Written by Amit SouravReviewed by Ashmita Agarwal

Applications for January 2027 are open. Popular courses can close once full, so apply early. Your AdmitVerse counsellor will confirm the current timeline for your course.

How much money do I need to show for an Ireland student visa?

You must show €10,000, about ₹11 lakh at ₹110 to the euro, for your first year of living costs. The money must be immediately accessible and visible across six months of statements, with no last-minute deposits. Part-time income does not count. This is on top of the tuition you must already have paid.

What counts

Acceptable sources of funds

Proof of funds

€10,000, visible and stable

Show where the money came from, not only that it is there.

Your own bank statements, six months, in your name.
An education loan sanction letter from a recognised lender.
A sponsor’s bank statements with an affidavit of support, income tax returns and proof of relationship.
A combination of these, as long as the total is clear and consistent.
Avoid

The last-minute deposit trap

A sudden large deposit can sink a strong file

If money arrives shortly before the statement date with no clear source, the visa officer may not accept it. Move funds early, keep the balance stable for six months, and keep evidence of where any large credit came from.

€10,000 is about ₹11 lakh at ₹110 to the euro, but the rupee rate moves, so keep a margin above it. That balance must be stable across six months of statements. It covers living costs only: your tuition payment of at least €6,000 is separate and must already be paid.
