What IELTS score do I need to study in Ireland?

Most Irish universities ask for an overall IELTS 6.5 for a master’s, with no band below 6.0, and 6.0–6.5 for a bachelor’s. Some private colleges and technological universities accept 6.0. These are typical figures, not rules: confirm the score for your exact course on its official page, as requirements differ by program.

Without IELTS

Can you study without IELTS?

Sometimes. A Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter is accepted by some institutions, but acceptance varies, and we list only institutions we have confirmed. We have not confirmed any yet, so treat this as general guidance.

MOI letters: case by case

Confirm with each institution before you rely on one.

Ask your Indian university for an MOI letter stating your degree was taught and assessed in English.
Check the course page: some accept MOI, some ask for a minimum English score in class 12, many insist on a test.
Even with a waiver, the visa office can ask for English evidence; a test result is the safest proof.
If a college waives the test, keep the waiver letter and include it in your visa file.
