Is Ireland or the UK better for Indian students?

Both offer one-year, English-taught master’s. Ireland’s edge is Stamp 1G: up to 24 months after a Level 9 master’s with no job offer, and Stamp 4 after 21 months on a Critical Skills permit. The UK offers far more universities. Verify the UK’s current rules on GOV.UK before deciding.

Which one suits you?

Choose Ireland if…

  • You want a longer, simpler stay-back after a one-year master’s
  • A clear permit route to Stamp 4 in 21 months
  • An EU base for tech, pharma and finance jobs

Choose the UK if…

  • You want the widest choice of universities and subjects
  • A specific UK university or course is your goal
  • You value the UK’s larger job market and Indian community

Spouse and dependants in Ireland

Most students cannot bring a spouse to work in Ireland. After graduating, a spouse or partner of a Critical Skills Employment Permit holder can live and work in Ireland on a spouse/partner permission. This is indicative: confirm the current rules on the official page before you plan around it.
