Updated on Written by Amit SouravReviewed by Ashmita Agarwal

Applications for January 2027 are open. Popular courses can close once full, so apply early. Your AdmitVerse counsellor will confirm the current timeline for your course.

Is Ireland or Australia better for Indian students?

Australia offers a large Indian community, warm weather and the Temporary Graduate visa; Ireland offers a one-year, English-taught master’s, up to 24 months of Stamp 1G and an EU base. Australian master’s are often longer, which adds living costs. Verify Australia’s current visa rules on the Home Affairs website.

Honest answer

Which one suits you?

Choose Ireland if…

  • A one-year master’s and lower total cost of time
  • An EU base for tech, pharma and finance jobs
  • Stamp 4 after 21 months on a Critical Skills permit

Choose Australia if…

  • Warmer weather and a larger Indian community
  • Longer master’s with more time to build experience
  • Points-tested skilled migration

Spouse and dependants in Ireland

Most students cannot bring a spouse to work in Ireland. After graduating, a spouse or partner of a Critical Skills Employment Permit holder can live and work in Ireland on a spouse/partner permission. This is indicative: confirm the current rules on the official page before you plan around it.

Often, because Irish master’s are usually one year: on our January 2027 list they cost €11,500–€25,000. Australian master’s often run longer, so you pay more living costs. Fees in both vary by university, so verify Australia’s figures on the official sources and compare the full cost.
