Who is exempt from the dMAT

Who does not need to take the dMAT?

You are exempt if you are applying for a bachelor’s or a PhD, if your intake is Winter 2026/27 or earlier, if your APS registration was completed before 29 June 2026, or if you are on an exchange, double-degree or university-partnership programme. Everyone else applying for a Master’s from Summer 2027 should check the requirement list.

The fields that do require it

If none of the exemptions apply, the dMAT is required for Master’s applicants from the Summer 2027 intake holding a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields:

  • Engineering, including computer science and IT
  • Commerce, accounting and finance
  • Economics
  • Business and management

Check before you pay

The exam costs €150 and is non-refundable, and it is entirely possible to book it without needing it. The date on your APS registration is the detail most often missed — if it completed before 29 June 2026, the requirement does not reach you at all.
