About the test

What is the SAT?

Who should take it

Class 11 and 12 students applying for undergraduate (Bachelor’s) admission to universities in the USA and a growing number of universities worldwide.

What it opens up

Undergraduate degrees across liberal arts, business, engineering and the sciences — primarily in the USA.

The SAT is the most widely used undergraduate admissions test for universities in the United States, administered by the College Board. Since 2024 it is fully digital and adaptive worldwide, and takes a little over two hours.

For Indian students in Classes 11 and 12, the SAT is usually the key standardised test for a Bachelor’s application to the USA, and it is accepted by a growing number of universities in Canada and elsewhere. It is scored out of 1600 — combining a Reading & Writing section and a Math section, each out of 800.

Because the digital SAT is section-adaptive, the difficulty of the second module adjusts to how you perform on the first. Scores are released within about two weeks, and although SAT scores technically do not expire, universities generally prefer results from the last five years.

How financing works

Fund the whole journey

An undergraduate degree abroad is one of the largest education investments a family makes, and the SAT is its starting line. Planning financing early — while you prepare for the test — lets you budget the full four years rather than reacting intake by intake.

Our financing partners fund undergraduate study abroad — tuition, living costs and pre-departure expenses such as SAT fees, coaching, applications and the visa — through low-interest education loans with fast approvals. For undergraduate loans the co-applicant (usually a parent) profile and, in some cases, collateral, determine the amount and rate.

A strong SAT score is also a direct lever on cost: many US universities award merit scholarships tied to SAT performance, which can cut tens of thousands of dollars off tuition and shrink the loan you need. We help you shortlist universities where your score unlocks aid.

Loan eligibility, interest rates and amounts depend on your destination, course, co-applicant and lender. Figures on this page are indicative.
