How do Indian students find accommodation in Ireland?

Start as soon as you accept an offer. Choose between on-campus rooms, purpose-built student accommodation, a room in a shared house or digs with a family. Supply is tight: fewer than 1,150 homes were available to rent in Dublin in August 2026. Never pay before viewing, and check the landlord’s registration with the RTB.

Scammers target students who are booking from India.

Never pay a deposit or rent before you, or someone you trust, has viewed the room.
Check that the landlord’s tenancy is registered with the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).
Never pay by money transfer services, gift cards or crypto; use a traceable bank payment.
Be wary of a room far cheaper than others nearby, or a landlord who is “abroad” and cannot show it.
Ask for a written tenancy agreement and a receipt for every payment.
Use your college accommodation office and its approved lists where you can.

Digs is a room in a family home, often with some meals included, and sometimes for weekdays only. It can cost less than a shared house and gives you a settled start, but you live by the household’s rules. Confirm the price, the meals and the notice period in writing before you move in.
